Counselling is process where a client contracts to spend time with a therapist(counsellor) to work through a problem.
The therapist who is trained in 'talk therapy', engages in active listening and helps the client walk-through areas of the problem, where more focus is required. During this process, the client engages him/he... rself in an activity analogous to unknoting a thread. The thread is a metaphor for thoughts of a person, when thoughts are scrutinized through guided participation of a therapist, he/she will be able to achieve clarity of the problem and resolve it on his/her own.
