N.S.S. College, Nilamel, which owes its existence to the Nair Service Society, started functioning in 1964 with the unstinting co-operation extended by the people of the locality. The college was upgraded in October 1969. The college is affliated to the University of Kerala.
Devaswom Board College, Sasthamcotta was started by the Travancore Devaswom Board in June 1964. The inspiration behind establishing this college was the late Sri.Kumbalathu Sanku Pillai. Upgraded into a First Grade College in 1967. The college is affiliated to University of Kerala
