Initially opened at Customs Road near the beach, Zains Hotel was later shifted to the present location at Convent Cross Road behind the Beach Fire Station. You have to turn towards the Convent Cross Road from Gandhi Square near the Corporation to reach this restaurant. But one thing to keep in mind that there is no separate parking area available here. Anyways you can park your vehicle on the roadside infront of the hotel.
‘Muttamala’ is one snack item much in demand here which you can get every day. There are two main parts of this sweet luscious dish. ‘Mutta Surka’ is similar to a pudding prepared from egg white while the spring like yellow portion is made with the egg yolk. ‘Chatti Pathiri’ is another dessert item prepared by blending egg with maidha and sugar. This mixture is later baked and topped up with cashew nuts and raisins. The dish is not too sugary; it is soft and fluffy and melts in your mouth.
‘Unnakkaya’- one of the most common Malabar snacks is prepared here with utmost perfection. Coconut scrapes and sugar mixture is stuffed inside boiled and mashed banana to make this dish. A non-vegetarian version with a filling of egg is also available. ‘Irachi Pathiri’ has chicken or beef as the major filling inside the maida with onion and green chillies.It is then fried after dipping it in an egg batter.
Painted an attractive stark red colour on the outside, ZainsHotel has a homely ambience on the inside. Tourists and locals are the regular customers of this restaurant.The peak hours here are 4 pm to 8 pm in the evening. The dishes available in this hotel are prepared only once a day. So, come early and grab your favourite item till the stock lasts.
