Baba Studio was started in 1956 by the Late Shri. N. Nanukuttan Nair at East Fort and he was considered the pioneer in the photography industry in Trivandrum.
Shri. Jayasankar V N, who is widely known as Balu (the eldest son of Shri. N. Nanukuttan Nair) joined the family business in 1982 and steered the enterprise into lucrative business verticals. He and his father were the visionaries who started the Babas Color at the Railway Station Road in Trivandrum in the year 1985.

During this period is when the semi-automatic color lab machine was introduced. And a year later it was upgraded to the Kodak high speed printing machine.

The nineties saw the implementation of the World’s best Noritsu integrated mini color lab system and in 1996, a multi-size mini lab Noritsu system was installed. Nearing the millennium we added a high speed minilab with a built in color monitor and took advantage of path breaking technological innovations.

In 2006, we shifted to a five storey complex at Pazhavangadi and celebrated our 50th anniversary. The complex became the one-stop showroom where everything related to photography was available. In 2013, we won the Business Excellence Award instituted by the Chamber of Commerce and became synonymous with quality and comprehensive services.

Over half a century ago, Babas came into the world of photography capturing the smiles and emotions of the citizens of Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. Baba Studio was lucky to have been born at a time when new technologies were just beginning to change the shape of the world of photography. We are glad to have been riding this wave of technological innovations ever since and bringing its benefits consistently to our valued customers.
