The Manas Institute was founded in 1979 by Smt. K. Jameela who was a Stenographer in Cochin Port Trust and inaugurated by Late Kaliyil G Appukkuttan Pillai. The Institute started with 25 typewriters from Underwood, Corona, Halda, Olivetti, Remington Rand, and Olympia. At first it was situated just opposite to the Govt. High School, West Kollam. In 1985, the institute shifted to its present premises on NH Road, Mulamkadakam and has been functioning from here ever since. It is a highly reputed institute for typewriting and computer word processing courses. It specialises and is well-known for training students as well as working professionals in Typewriting and Computer.
